This is a non-tourist hike in Banff National Park, with great views (picture 3). The first couple of kilometers is a very steep climb. It is a long strenuous hike, but hikers of intermediate ability and experience should be able to do this. We will be going at a moderate pace (Karen and Candice style). This hike encircles Mt. Edith and crosses two high passes. On the backside (picture 1) you pass into the Valley of the Gargoyles and the views of Mount Louis (picture 2) are amazing. There is one small scramble step involved and a long steep slope of loose scree down the backside of Edith Pass (picture 1).
Park Passes are required for this hike.
This is a long strenuous hike with steep ascents and descents.
