Snow Peak From Burstall Pass / S5

RSVP Opens Aug 11th at 8PM
Distance: 18.8 KM
Elevation Gain: 900 meters
Max Elevation : 2800 meters

Snow Peak is an easy scramble that lies just north of Burstall Pass The summit allows views of numerous peaks over 11000 feet such as Assiniboine and Sir Douglas.  We will be hiking at a steady pace with lots of rest stops.  If any other hikers wish to join us but not do the scramble they are welcome to explore the environs of Burstall Pass. It is a spectacular area. Just be prepared to wait at least 2 hours for the scramblers to return. The hike to the pass is rated T3.

Gas fees are $20 per passenger .

Waivers: As per the new policy for waivers; I will bring the group waiver form with me to both the Calgary Meetup location and the trailhead. You must sign it before you will be allowed to go on this hike. You will also be asked to provide the name and phone number of an emergency contact. There's a famous saying. "It's the journey, not the destination that makes a trip great." Snow Peak was not going to be taken by Slow and Steady on this day due to unpredictable weather. It will be there waiting for us on another day.
Still we had a great day with an awesome group of friends ( old and new ) exploring Burstall Pass and doing a side trip up to the Robertson ( not French ) Glacier. We had rain, sun, cold ,warmth. The weather couldn't make up it's mind but most importantly we made the most of what we had and still had an awesome time together.

Today was priceless and I hope I have the opportunity to meet everyone of you in the future. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

It was an experience !! Falling in a creek hurts, wet clothes, boots , injured knee and all kind of good stuff comes from exploring wilderness. Two hikes in a row and third one to go tomorrow with bad knee. Thanks Andy for helping me clean up. Thanks Brian for dry pair of socks, thanks Anna Banana for towel and offering extra pair of pants. It was a great day out in the Rockies with my hiking family.

I can drive or be a passenger as well! Since, this is my first hike with this group, do we figure this all out at the Shouldice Park?

    August 12, 2013

  • Pei

Hey Andy, this is probably stupid but I would like to ask how is this hike different from the one Jerome did back in June 15th? Is our approach going to be easier? a 900m elevation as compared to the 1150m elevation as posted in Jerome's approach?

    August 9, 2013

    • Pei

Looking at the pictures in Jerome's hike scared me a little :)

      August 12, 2013

    • Pei

no problem, don't worry about it Jerome :) I always try to do a bit of homework before signing up, just in case I feel that I can't get onto the top
