From Canmore drive south along Smith Dorrien. The trail head is on the left side of the road by Spencer Creek 11 km south of the bridge by Goat Pond dam.
Hike Description: I haven't been in this area since the flood so be ready for anything. If the trail still exists we will follow a path for the first 3 or 4 kilometers and then we will need to do a off trail for a while. Once we break out of the trees we will enter a spectacular amphitheatre. I plan to be moving at a leisurely pace with plenty of short breaks and taking the day to enjoy all the Rockies have to offer.
Backpack min 30 litre, sturdy hiking boots, mitts/gloves, toque, gaiters,
hiking poles, sunglasses layered clothing with waterproof shell, headlamp with
extra batteries, food and water.
Suggested passenger commuting costs: $20.00 for gas per person and in cash.
