NORTH BRAGG LOOP

This is a loop around North Bragg Creek Hill that takes you to a ridge with veiws. It combines a snow shoe trail with a section of logging road that is used in winter only. This would be a excellant beginner hike because its only 8.1 km. long with only 198M of elevation.Fall colours should be excellant. It starts out from the West Bragg Creek parking lot, which for those of you who want to drive directly there you follow the West Bragg Ck. sign from the village, head along Balsam Ave. and cross the bridge over the Elbow river. At the T- Junction turn left and head straight west until you dead end at the West Bragg Ck.parking lots. Park at the far side of the lot.I will be leaving the Somerset LRT east lot at 9am.,so anyone needing a ride we can carpool from there. Please indicate on the comments if you will meet at the LRT or the trail head.

What to bring:

Your packpack with lunch and water and any other hiking equipment you use. This time of year we can experience winter conditions so please come prepared with winter gloves and head gear,Gaiters would also be a good idea. After the hike we will meet at the Cinnamon Spoon Cafe for a hot cup of your favourite beverage. If you have any questions or concerns please email me thru the site or contact me by text/phone at 403/818/3790

    Hi Wayne,

Sorry, I didn't see the confimation notice until after the hike had started this am. When no spots were open by 10:30pm last night, I made other plans.

Please bring runners to change out of your wet/muddy boots and a plastic bag to put them in.

Hi, Wayne - my cold just took on epic proportions today, so I'm afraid I won't be able to make it tomorrow. Looking forward to a hike in the future!

First time on the wait list, will I receive an email if an opening comes up? It said to RSVP, not that it was full?

Unfortunately, I can’t come this time as I have not been to the Hiking 101 Seminar which I’m attending on Monday. I will be getting all my gear and recommendations then. I look forward to the next hike!

I am on the wait list and will be coming from the NW with my dog. If I make it off the wait list I can take one person from that end of town with me, if they like dogs. This will be my first adventure with this group.

Please read the hike description before asking questions about hike length and elevation.

Hi Sarah, 8.1 km with less than 200 m elevation is about as flat a hike as you will ever see. Your only problem on a hike like this would be that it's not challenging enough...

      1 · October 14, 2013

    • Sarah P.

Thanks Jessica! I have heard that although slow & steady can be easy they also have some very challenging ones so this one will be right up my alley :)

Wayne, I will meet you at the trail head parking lot (indicated in the description) on or before 10am. Thanks.

Really look forward to my very first hike in Alberta. Signed up a couple of times before but had to cancel due to work schedule. I am determined not to let that happen this time!

Hi Wayne I know this is a beginner hike however I would like to join . I will be using a weighted vest to build endurance. That would be a great distance and speed for me. Plus the hot beverage after with super nice people is a great ending to an awesome hike!

    October 13, 2013

    • wayne

A weighted vest may come in handy if its windy,it will keep you grounded lol.

Look for a red 4 door Ford 150 pick-up at the LRT.I should be at the West Bragg Ck. lot by 10 am.
