Foran Grade Trail and Windy Point Ridge

Foran Grade Trail and Windy Point Ridge (All levels welcome)

Distance 12 Km

Elevation 350 meters

Difficulty T3-OT3 (Easy with one steep section)

Trail Head is 21 km West Turner Valley four way stop just past Sheep River Ranger Station.

Foran Grade Trail is a easy hike through trees and up a ridge. Once we reach Windy Point Ridge the second ridge we will scramble a steep section through the trees for approx. 100meters there is no trail and it has no exposure.  Once we obtain Windy Ridge Point we will be rewarded with incredible views of the Sheep River Valley, Blue Rock Mountain, Mount Rose, and Three Point Mountain and on a clear day you can see Calgary . From there we follow the ridge down and loop back to the car.

Recommended gas fare per person $15.00.

Looking at today's snowfall, I feel really fortunate to have experienced one last day of "summer" on Friday afternoon. Great way to start the weekend!

Thanks so much for the great hike yesterday. We found the scrambling and the beginning of the descent quite a challenge and have sore toes but loved the company, scenery and beautiful weather. Thank you to everyone for your relaxed, take your time attitude.

Hi folks, Since I have not driven to this area before I may have a bit of a challenge getting there. So please start without me if I'm not there by 2 pm. My husband will drive down with me and we may meet you on the trail.

Hi Doug, Lynda and Mike. I would love to go on this hike however I may be a bit rusty these days and wouldn't want to keep anyone back. I would be at the beginner stage so please let me know if that would be ok. Also I would love to carpool and could drive if need be. Thanks Debbie
