Powderface Ridge trail is a popular trail in the Elbow Valley off hi-way #66.It is fairly strenuous trail with a fair bit of up hill but you are rewarded with a splendid panoramic veiw of the surrounding mountains and Elbow Valley. If we go to the far end of the ridge and back it would be a 13.4km. return trip.It has 640 M of elevation.
What to bring:
Your backpack with your lunch, snacks and water.Have good hiking boots along with winter clothing such as wearing long underwear, head gear and gloves. If you have icers or micro spikes it would be a good idea to bring them, because since mid September I have experienced snow on hikes with high elevation.I have done this hike several times over the last few years approaching the ridge from other trails. The approach we are taking I have done a few years ago.DOGS WELCOME-MEMBERS ONLY.If you want to drive to the trail head from NW Calgary just take the Trans Canada to the Bragg Ck. turn off,go thru Bragg Ck. to hi-way #66 turn right, continue until you come to Powderface Rd. just before Little Elbow campground. At this intersection there is a small parking area. This is were we will meet.I will be parked at the A+W with a red Ford 150 pickup, and in the A+W having a coffee.Look for a gray haired old guy with a blue jacket.
