Meet up Location: Shouldice Arena, 1515 Home Road NW, Calgary

Meet up Time: 0800 AM

Location: Windtower is located near Spray Lakes. Approximately 22 Km South from Canmore on Smith-Dorrien Road.

Round Trip Distance: Approximately 8-9 km from trail head and back.

Elevation gained: Approximately 1000 meters

Activity type: Strenuous Day Hike/Easy Scramble

Round Trip Estimated time: 3-5 hours on trail, plus 3 hours driving.

Driving Directions: We will head West on Hwy 1 to Canmore and South on Smith-Dorrien for approximately 22 km to Spurling Creek trail head.

Activity speed and difficulty: This is a strenuous hike. An above average level of fitness is required to participate. Our pace will be steady throughout. Please be realistic about your abilities and experience.

Mandatory Gear: Climbing helmet, Micro spikes, First aid kit, food and water, hiking boots, layered clothing and waterproof jacket.

Suggested Gear: Hiking poles, gaiters, headlamp, camera, GPS.

Carpooling gas contribution: $15.00 each

Waiver: Your written consent is required to attend this event. Emergency contact name and phone number will be recorded on the waiver.

Your hosts are volunteers and not trained guides. All participants are responsible for assessing the roads, weather, trail, avalanche conditions and your own physical fitness and abilities to participate in this event. You must arrive on time and well prepared with all required and mandated gear to participate in this event.

    I was at Wind Pass last Saturday. Straightforward to the Pass but the trails over to the Tower were icy & slippery. People need proper foot gear.
