$2 Lift ticket for Skiing or Snowboarding, or Snowblades @ Norquay!

There are 6 Questions as the end.  Please answer them all even if it's a N/A (Not Applicable), or risk being removed.  (If you put N/A for all, I will remove you.)

It's Toonie Time at Norquay! Yup it's true! The day has been changed and now it's on Wednesdays. This is open to all levels.  They will have lesson deals too on this day.  This deal is for AB Residents. They usually require something (a driver's license, or AB Health or Student ID) to prove residency.

You will also need to equip yourself. they have rentals at the hill, and we get there before the lifts start.  Or you can get stuff likely cheaper in town, but we will not be stopping for this, you need to sort it out on your own.

Note: The Car Pool Location

It's close to the 69th St. LRT has nearby bus access (#94) and free Parking on the street.

Yes we do meet quite early at the carpool as to get to the Hill in good time for a close parking spot, or else we could be half way down the mountain... and have to walk up. ): That's really not fun.  Also we sort out the drivers and passengers right away and leave fairly quickly.

Car Pool Costs: Zone 3; $20@

We'll start pretty much with the lifts opening up and do a few warmup runs on the Cascade chair then break into groups according to ability and speed, then meet back up for about an hours lunch at 11:30 and we can re-group and hit the slopes again.  I don't plan to stop till 4:00 when the lifts cease.

Wear/bring weather appropriate clothes and something bright and boldly unique thus making you more distinct, so if we get separated you are easier to spot.  Plus wacky stuff makes it more festive and fun. :D

Sometimes I like to see how cheap we can make each run. One time I got 21 runs in on one of the days.

It might be busy so I recommend packing your lunch, but at this price you could splurge. If they have Burgers on the deck they were great, and their Lasagne was huge and quite tasty.  They did have microwaves and a Hot Water tap.

Following the skiing, if there is interest and rides can be sorted out, we may be stopping in Banff for a soak in the Hot Springs (so bring your suits 'n stuff, or you can rent suits and towels) followed by Dinner at some place simple, perhaps a noodle house this time, suggestions?  (I'm thinking the Grizzly Hut for April as my birthday is in that month.)

Note:  (In order for there to peace in my home, I may have to bring my Daughter for at least one of these Ski Days.)

Despite the cold, we all seemed to have a good time, based on the smiles shared during our returns to the lodge to warm-up. We must have liked it well enough, as we kept going back out for more! It was only a little bit icy here and there, mostly packed pretty hard though for the most part. There was fluffy stuff to be found and I got some nice corduroy in surprising places, as well as the expected. It was well worth going out on this day. It was fun to watch the people play with their "frosting up" hair in the Hot Springs. It was so divine to bliss out in the mist and coziness of the pool.

A decision to try out MacDonald's Poutine got us their Sochi package, that included a finger table top Hockey game set. Team Mum took the Gold Medal and team Kidlet took Silver. Poland, Tiwan and Hong Kong didn't make the play offs.

Yup, it was a great day. Thanks everyone for making it so delightful.

Sorry, that should have been Thailand not Tiwan, (which should have been spelled Taiwan...)

I heard from coworkers that yesterday ski conditions at Norquay were horrible and it was very cold. Does anyone have any other info on the conditions ?

If you use the first link it will take you to the Norquay site and then you can go to conditions. Also Environment Canada, says that it will be slightly warmer there than here.

I am not brave enough to ski at the temperature which is expected there tomorrow. Sorry, I will not attend. Hopefully another time when it is not that cold.

Does anyone know where we're meeting and @ what time?

Plus the cold makes really nice powder snow.

After you answer the first three questions there's a next button that you have to press and then you can answer the next three questions

    Hi Everyone,
It looks like only Michael and Darrell have gotten to answer all 6 questions. Since I've had some issues with them being visible to you I've given you over a week to get to them. I am removing those who have not yet done so. It may be that you couldn't. So just sign up again and we'll see if that fixes the problems with getting access to them. If you can't re-sign up, or can't see them, please send me an email and I will get them to you and after you answer I'll add you back onto the event. I believe if you signed up with your phone you never saw them. (Mia and Barb?)

Thanks for your understanding. It really helps with sorting out the car-pool to know what your preferences and needs are.

There were only 3 questions when I signed up, so that's all I was able to answer.

Hi Cynthia Rose.... I didn't get any questions when I rsvp'ed....But am more then happy to answer them :D I was wondering if I could join the caravan out to the hill at PC on highway 1?

      January 16, 2014

    • Cynthia R.

If everyone could go to the questions and answer the (new) ones I posted, it would be much appreciated. Please do so within the week. If you rsvp on your phone I don't think you get asked the questions. Please let me know if there are not 6Q's, as I have added them yet again...

This sounds like a good time...but I don't really ski. Is snowboarding okay?

      Certainly! I've changed the title...
