It's Toonie Time at Norquay! Yup it's true! The day has been changed and now it's on Wednesdays. This is open to all levels. They will have lesson deals too on this day. This deal is for AB Residents. They usually require something (a driver's license, or AB Health or Student ID) to prove residency.
You will also need to equip yourself. they have rentals at the hill, and we get there before the lifts start. Or you can get stuff likely cheaper in town, but we will not be stopping for this, you need to sort it out on your own.
Click below to get the conditions. (I personally only check them the night before.)
Note: The Car Pool Location
It's close to the 69th St. LRT has nearby bus access (#94) and free Parking on the street.
Yes we do meet quite early at the carpool as to get to the Hill in good time for a close parking spot, or else we could be half way down the mountain... and have to walk up. ): That's really not fun. Also we sort out the drivers and passengers right away and leave fairly quickly.
Car Pool Costs: Zone 3; $20@
We'll start pretty much with the lifts opening up and do a few warmup runs on the Cascade chair then break into groups according to ability and speed, then meet back up for about an hours lunch at 11:30 and we can re-group and hit the slopes again. I don't plan to stop till 4:00 when the lifts cease.
Wear/bring weather appropriate clothes and something bright and boldly unique thus making you more distinct, so if we get separated you are easier to spot. Plus wacky stuff makes it more festive and fun. :D
Sometimes I like to see how cheap we can make each run. One time I got over 31 runs in on one of the days.
It might be busy so I recommend packing your lunch, but at this price you could splurge. If they have Burgers on the deck they were great, and their Lasagne was huge and quite tasty. They did have microwaves and a Hot Water tap.
Following the skiing, if there is interest and rides can be sorted out, we may be stopping in Banff for a soak in the Hot Springs (so bring your suits 'n stuff, or you can rent suits and towels) followed by Dinner at some place simple, perhaps a noodle house this time, suggestions? (I'm thinking the Grizzly Hut for April as my birthday is in that month.)
Note: (In order for there to peace in my home, I may have to bring my Daughter for at least one more of these Ski Days.)
