Mike, I wil be coming from Canmore. What time do you estimate I should meet everyone at the junction of hwy 68 + The northern end of Powderface Trail? And I assume you know Powderface Trail is closed south of Dawson Day Use Area... Thx, Alex

    • Mike R.

Hi Alex. We can meet at the junction of highway 68 and powder face at 5. See you then!

Hi, would you take a beginner on this hike?

    April 20, 2014

    • Mike R.

Hi Mark, this isn't a technical route. We might have the opportunity to scramble a bit, but those areas can be easily avoided. The hill/ridge is steep though, so a certain level of fitness is required. Nothing extreme, but three hours of exercise with steep inclines may be tough if you haven't had a chance to do much cardio over the winter.
If you have the fitness and required gear, you are more than welcome to come. We won't be racing to the top.
To put this event in perspective, it will be less strenuous than the prairie mountain hikes you have signed on for.

I will be leaving from the Safeway in sunnyside at 3:45. If you need a ride, let me know. I drive a small car, but can take 3 passengers comfortably. 4 if you don't mind getting to know your fellow hikers intimately.
