If you have Easter Monday off or want an excuse to take it off then let's go for a hike.  Jumping Pound Loop is an easy and enjoyable foothills hike.

There are 2 distinct sections to the loop; the north side of the loop climbs up and down and provides good views of Moose Mountain and Cox Hill.  We will then cross the highway to Pine Grove Recreation Area and stop for lunch in the picnic area with picnic tables! The south side of the loop is mainly level and follows Jumping Pound Creek taking us back to our cars.

Trip Details:
Distance: 9 km approx.
Difficulty: T2 easy.  Total elevation gain is approx. 457m
Hazards: might be still be  snow and/or ice
Time on trail est: 4+ hours depending on trail conditions plus driving time.

In order to keep our environmental footprint small max. group size is 12. For safety reasons min. group size is 4

Pace will be relaxed to moderate.

Suggested carpool contribution is $10 per person paid to your driver.

Trailhead:
To get to the trailhead take Highway #1 west and turn off at the Sibbald Creek Trail (Highway 68) exit and head south for approximately 12.5 kilometres. Park at the Pine Top Recreation area which is next to the K Country boundary on the left hand side just after the pavement ends at the texas gate.  The recreation area is closed in the off season so either park at the gate or on the road.

When you come off Highway 1 and just before the turn onto Highway 68 there is a small pond to the right. Have a quick look if you get a chance as often as this time of year there are swans there
