Cascade Fire Road - Easy X-Country Ski & Banff Hot Springs

Cascade Fire Road - Easy X-C Ski

&

Banff Hot Springs

Saturday, December 8, 2012 - 9:00 AM

Cascade Fire Road & Banff Hot Springs

  • Distance: Whatever we feel like... we will turn around at some point...
  • Elevation: 180 m max gain
  • Time: 3-4 hours on trail at a moderate pace
  • Location: Minnewanka Lake Parking Lot, in Banff National Park
  • RSVP's open Monday, November 26, 2012 at 7:00am

This is one of the most popular trails in the Rocky Mountains. The snow is usually good and this is one of the first trails to be trackset!

We will stop for a soak at the Banff Hot Springs after the ski, and perhaps for coffees or other beverages depending on the wishes of the group.

You must come prepared for this ski with water, food, multiple clothing layers, toque, & mitts - all appropriate for x-country sking. You must know how to use your gear & be able to wax your skis (unless you have waxless).

Carpool fare will be $20 per passenger for this trip, as this trip is within Banff National Park, park passes are required.

Waivers: As per the new policy for waivers, I will bring the group waiver form with me to both the Calgary Meetup location and the trailhead. You must sign it before you will be allowed to go on this event. You will also be asked for the name and phone number of an emergency contact. Please come prepared with this information.

You are fully aware that organizers are not professional guides and you assume all responsibility for your safety and well-being. You are fully prepared with proper gear and you're physically fit to do this event with the group.

Sorry guys, I won't be going; still getting over this cold. I didn't have any passengers (that I am aware of) so I hope I am not inconveniencing anyone.

  • Jessica C.

If any of you aren't staying for the whole event please ensure you have a willing driver to leave early with. If you haven't arranged this, please cancel. Not fair to make someone come back early if they would rather not. Thanks!!

    December 7, 2012

  • Jessica C.

Are any drivers, aside from Barry, planning on skipping the Hot Springs? Seems like half the group (the half who are passengers) wants to return right away...

I was planning to stay also.

So far we have 12 leaving from Calgary & spots in cars for 10. Can any more of those coming drive? If not I will have to bump 2 people & replace with those on the wait list who are offering to drive.

Hi Jess - looks like there are just enough spots for 10 leaving from Calgary (12 minus Jerome & Elise = 10).

      December 3, 2012

    • Jessica C.

Thanks Morgan, Cathy & her +1 changed their reservation so we are good now. Everyone should have a spot!
