What have you started?

My consulting/adult learning practice, I was the founding President of the Rocky Mountain Direct Marketing Association, I created Wren Marketing, one of the first one-to-one marketing agencies in the country, I've started TV/radio shows, several businesses, and a few newsletters.

What are you starting now?

Our Small Business Chamber of Commerce. Join us now, and let me know if you might be interested in getting our help to start a meeting in your neighborhood.

What helps you stimulate your imagination? What are your favorite books? Movies?

Getting together with other people who like thinking outside the box. That's why I've facilitated IDEA Cafes since 1994, I really enjoy and benefit from the meetings myself! EF Schumacher, Small is Beautiful; Thomas Merton, Seven Story Mountain; Malcomb Knowles, Self-Directed Learning; Amar Bhide, Origin & Evolution. 37Signals, Rework; James Marin, The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything; and Len Schlesinger & Charles Kiefer's 2012 Just Start-- Take Action, Embrace Uncertainty, Create the Future, the best startup book ever, except for my very favorite books, the two "big" books (ask me if you don't know what this means.) Movies: Crimson Tide, There Will Be Blood, Get Low, The Fighter, John Carter, Seven Days in Utopia, The Help, Hope Springs, Lawless, Melancholia,

Each IDEA Cafe ideally has six or seven people who attend a business meeting after the regular meeting once a month and who lead one of the meetings each month. Would you possibly be willing to do this for a group?

Yes, I've been doing it for nearly 20 years. :) Hope to get others involved over the next few months, and to pass the torch to a new board and staff in the next two or three years. I'm the temporary CEO until we can get this done.

How did you hear about Small Business Chamber's IDEA Startup Workshops?

I started it, thought of the idea taking a walk along the highline canal nearly 20 years ago. I still remember that Aha! moment.

Introduction

Founder of IDEA Cafe Startup Workshops, Franklin Circle Peer Groups, and now the Small Business Chamber of Commerce, cooperating with local chambers and otherss to start similar low cost/ no cost workshops and groups across Colorado and beyond..
