Modern smartphones make an excellent processor platform for a small mobile robots. They include multiple sensors (including cameras for computer vision) and a powerful processor optimized for power consumption, all in a tiny package. Just add a robot base, and you've got a robot. Recent developments, such as Romotive's Romo robot base for iPhone, and Google's Project Tango smartphone with built-in 3D sensors and a burgeoning build-it-yourself community have led to a point where smartphone robotics is poised to take off. This meetup is for people who have smartphone robots, are building them, or are just interested in the topic to get together and share our experience, and show off our robots.
