The teacher from the school wrote "Imagine 200 students excitedly creating their scientific illustrations as they discuss the fine points of the ideas with their peers. Students need markers, colored pencils, and crayons. The supplies I am requesting will impact my students science education for the entire year. Do you remember how excited you were when you could create a project in class?"
The tactile experience of writing, drawing, coloring, and creating a scientific model provides students with important opportunities to connect creativity with concrete scientific knowledge. Connecting complex, abstract ideas with simple pictures is a powerful way to learn new information.
Students need markers, colored pencils, crayons,3 ring binders and regular #2 pencils.
We will be meeting at Dolley Madison Library, McLean in the Conference Room to collect everything.
Please contact me offline if you would like to co-ordinate a supplies drive in a school/daycare/office so that we can donate to this local school.
