I have never been to the Pembina Valley Provincial Park, but all the photos I have seen show it to be very pretty! So, who wants to go check it out? Doing some research, it looks like a combination of the Porcupine Ridges and Pembina Rim trails are the way to go...expect about a 6k hike, give or take, with approximately 20 minutes per kilometer (so about 2 hours, not accounting for stopping and taking photos). According to the Government of Manitoba site, this trail is rated MODERATELY DIFFICULT with a small portion that is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT! If you are RSVPing, PLEASE ensure that your physical ability will allow you to hike this trail!
With that housekeeping out of the way, let's get down to the details!
8:00am - Meet at the Tim Hortons (the one by the Canadian Tire, NOT at the racetrack) to collect meetup fees and organize carpooling
8:30am SHARP - Leave Timmy's for the park...it's approximately a 2 hour and 15 minute drive
10:45am - Arrive at park...organize our lives, check our batteries and water bottles, then hit the trail!
3:00pm (at the latest) - finish hike and head back to Winnipeg
5:15pm - Arrive at Timmy's, collect cars, then head home with many photos and memories filling our cameras and heads!
What you need to bring:
-$2 meetup fee
-money for person you are carpooling with
-water! It's hiking in Manitoba in July!
-APPROPRIATE FOOTWEAR! The hike takes us up and down hills. I don't want rolled or broken ankles!
-mosquito repellent! Because again, it's hiking in Manitoba in July!
-camera, of course!
