Wonderland trail/ Longmire/Mt. Rainier Beginner only

Hi all. There is no snow at the original destination. But there is plenty on Mt. Rainier. If we can make to the top/ paradise... Then we are lucky. If not, we are still lucky because we snowshoe on trails starting at Longmire. So come and have good time. We will all meet at Ravenna. The group is to big to keep track of and cell connection stops at eatonville.

But this destination is scenic and perfect for beginners.

You have to be able to walk 4 miles easily. Snowshoes will change your gate and makes it more of an exercise.

If you have never had any snowshoe experience this would be the hike for you.

If you would like to hone your basic skills and/or endurance... come along. But keep in mind that the pace is slow. If you cannot snowshoe at a slow pace, wait for a more advanced event.

Round-trip measures 4 miles and has an elevation gain of only 250 feet. If we are ambitious, we can continue on through the woods towards the ice cave.  This will add 3 extra mile to the roundtrip, making it 7 miles.

PLEASE BE COMMITMENT FREE

Each car needs a Northwest Forest Park pass.
Please note in your RSVP if you are a driver. At our meeting point we will figure out who is driving with whom

What to bring:

Backpack with water and food. camera, suntan lotion, extra gloves and a smile on your face.  Wear layers of clothing and hiking boots with ankle support.

Directions: Keep in mind that there is no cell reception.

** I'll update closer to the time about avalanche warning **

NOTE: Be on early since I will leave on time.  I will take peeps with pictures only and I have a NO Show and last minute cancellation policy for events like this. If you have 3 No shows and/or last minute cancellations, you won't be able to attend in the future.

There is no snow to speak off in granite falls. So I I am going with plan B and drive to mount Rainer where we have options and snow .
Please note the change in meeting point. New meeting point is 65th and Ravenna P&R on south side. All wheel drive is preferred and all season radials if not winter tires. Rangers have not asked us for chains. If you have them that is a plus.

The pass required in the text above needs to be updated. Excellent forecast for Wednesday at Rainier. Remember sunscreen. http://www.atmos.wash...

All attending, please keep in mind that it is truly a beginner's event. Which means slow going and lots of explaining.

I opened it to 16 peeps with the understanding that the group stays together. Keep in mind that we have first timer with us and it may be slow.
