So just for the record, folks.
    1 - I am not an organizer
2 - I would never have changed the whole meetup location since there were 7 going and my car was basically full.
3 - There were 2 guys who were complete no-shows, yet Mike has blasted the woman [who did communicate] both here and with a nasty-gram I received by email.
Sounds like a personal problem, Mike. Please do not communicate with me again, you're kinda scary.

Road was closed as of the entrance gate. Took another hiking route and enjoyed ourselves

Hey Steve - A good organizer would assure the meeting time and place were covered. We are talking about Carpool 101. If you are the driver would you tell everyone to meet you at the Park & Ride and then not show up? I said on Friday I would be at the P&R looking for a ride. Christine was not considering the group in toto, but only took care of herself. That is not how I would act as group organizer.

Thanks Christine. My arm is feeling better but still a bit sore. I really missed going out there yesterday, I really wanted to go. Glad you all had a good time.

Mike, You missed Christine's message Saturday and you're blaming her? You're the one who has communication problems.

Christine - i guess the policy of "leave no one behind" is not one we share in common.

Had a fabulous time with Gabi and Linda.!Although the road was closed up to the Ridge, we found some alternate trails with great snow.
Stopped for a quick bite and drink in Port Angeles at the lovely new Next Door Gastropub, which had happy hour and live music.

    Hi Mike,
I am sorry that I do not know how to message the group, I am not even an organizer. Perhaps if you set your email to receive message postings from events you have signed up to attend, you would have seen my three messages posted last night.

They had closed the road to Hurricaine when we arrived before 11, but being flexible and good-natured folks we figured out another route and had a great trip anyway.

Hope you had a great time XC skiing wherever you ended up.

Really poor organization. Organizer cancelled meeting location 8 hours before the meetup time (in the middle of the night) and did not update the meeting location on the event.

I arrived at the Mercer Island Park & Ride at 7:45am and waited until 8:30am for someone else to show up. Noone showed up. I hope this is not some kind of bad April Fools joke. Anyway, time for plan B - XC skiing with some friends.

    Hi everyone, my cell is[masked]

**I will NOT be going to MI P&R at 8.**

Will just drive up to the Edmonds Ferry, but first stopping to pickup Gabriele and Linda in Edmonds. For those folks meeting us on the other side, how about meeting at the Visitor's center? If you need to be picked up in Port Angeles, please post by tomorrow early and include your cell #. (I can see your email come in, but not reply thru meetup.)

    Ferries:
    Edmonds 8:50, 9:40
Bainbridge 8:45, 9:35 Bing Maps says 2:26 min total Edmonds to Visitors Center
So it looks like we could all be there by 11:30, just in time for lunch. LOL.
**Because of this, I am skipping the MI P&R**
Folks can find me at the Edmonds Ferry dock for the 8:50

Here are directions from the Edmonds Ferry:
I think Bing had the best directions... but too many characters to paste.
"Hurricane Ridge Visitor Center" is the destination.

While I prefer to catch a ride, I will be meeting at the P-R and can drive if there are not enough open slots.

Hi Steve, sure, you can ride with us. I will be at the P&R since I'm not very far away. There is plenty of parking and the bus service is not bad, esp. the Sound Transit routes.

    March 29, 2012

  • Steve W.

Christine, I would like to catch a ride with you, if there's room. I can meet you at the Mercer Island P&R (or wherever you care to meet). Thanks!

So I am taking Gabriele and have room for one more person.
How many of you will be at the Mercer Is. P&R?
I plan to wait for people on the top deck of the parking structure. If there is not enough space for the 'parkers' you can always put your car below and come up.
Do we have any idea how many drivers and riders? Does anyone need to set up a second pickup location?
    Getting excited about the adventure!

    This got my attention:
"Follow the small hikers' trail west from end of road, steep snowshoe up exposed ridgeline to top of Hurricane Hill. Trail stays on the west side of the ridge, passing under two tricky avalanche chutes. Snowshoers will do better on the narrow (sometimes, knife-edged) ridge crest all the way to the top. If the snow is heavily crusted or icy, even snowshoes with heavy cleats will not be enough to ensure safe footing, come prepared to turn around before the true summit."

Also, it would be lovely to have folks along who have been there before. I have about 5 snowshoe treks under my belt, but would be an Olympic Park newbie for snow. :>)

Hey folks, it turns out I have a conflict on Sunday, March 25. Can we shift to the next weekend? Maybe Sunday, April 1?

Figured whether we drive around or take the ferry, the MI P&R is a good central location. Even has covered parking.
