The Winter Wildlands Alliance (WWA) Backcountry Film Festival is back in Seattle!. The 5th Annual Show is being hosted by the Seattle Mountaineers Singles Committee.

The festival showcases inspirational and thought-provoking films that will inform you about backcountry and environmental issues as well as entertain you with exceptional skiing.

WWA?s signature film event is organized each year to promote human-powered winter sports such as backcountry and Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and winter hiking and camping, as well as to raise awareness of WWA?s work on issues affecting quiet winter ecosystems.

Films emphasize the pleasures of quiet, untracked snow, the excitement of steep descents and the ingenuity of wind-powered snow recreation. All captured through the unique vision of grassroots filmmakers.
This year?s Films include: Gentemstick - Sweetgrass Productions - Winner, Best of Festival; Generations - Teton Gravity Research ? Winner, Best Environmental Message; Winter Dreaming ? Eucalypt Productions; Flakes ? Powderwhore; Red Lady ? Snow Lion Productions; and Fast Grass and Dirty Corn ? Ember Productions ? Winner, Best Short Short.

A couple of trailers for two of the films can be viewed at: http://www.backcountryfilmfestival.com/bcff/pages/details.html

Tickets available at the door only, night of show. Members: $4.00 Non-Members: $6.00
Funds from this annual event help support WWA's public lands and youth education programs, as well as national policy work to advocate for the responsible stewardship of pristine winter wildlands. Winter Wildlands Alliance is a national nonprofit organization with the mission of promoting and preserving winter wildlands and a quality human-powered snowsports experience on public lands.
