Valentine's Couples Portrait Exchange

Technically, this is not a photo walk, although there is a nice walking trail, through the park.

This is a headshot/portrait exchange for couples only -- bring your Valentine and pair up with a few other members and take each other's portraits.  Just promise to provide your subjects with digital files, so that they can have a few prints made, in time to put a new 8x10 above the fireplace, or have new shots for their Facebook profiles, in time for Feb. 14th.

We are doing this, just for fun/practice, and no one will be changing for the files.

While you can use any camera and lens combination, best portrait results generally come with a DSLR or SLR with a[masked]mm lens. This is the 35mm equivalent.  For example, if you have a full-frame camera, then 75mm+ is what you'd use.  However, if you have a crop sensor body, there is a multiplication factor -- a Nikon would be 1.5x  so a 50mm lens times 1.5 would give the 35mm equivalent of 75mm.  Canon crop sensor cameras range from about 1.3x to 1.6x. Check your manual.

To save time, this meetup will be for getting shots of couples only.   In upcoming meetups, we will schedule family and individual portrait exchanges.

Parking is available beside the Library, or at the adjacent Sports Complex.

I feel silly, don't know how to use meetup site. Never used one before. Signed in with an email address I keep open for other stuff, prefer to change it to another, but how? Tried "my profile" and "account", don't see link. Am I going blind?

Hey -- Just to be clear, all are welcome to come shoot -- it's just that the subjects of the 'walk' are couples. We need more couples -- in fact, you can invite couples (relatives, friends, neighbors) who are not members of our group. The more the merrier -- and the more practice every can get.

My wife and I will be there -- but I am not that photogenic, so please -- everyone -- come on out:-)

Is this a rain or shine event?

    January 25, 2013

Rain or shine. Even an overcast sky works well -- diffusing the light. THe parking lot, in front of the library, has solar panel "roofs" so we can shoot under them if it is actually raining. I'll send my cell number, Sat. night.

Thanks. I begged and pleaded and my husband will come too. I have a couple of diffusers and a large reflector.

What is the best equipment to bring other than my camera. I have speedlight, triggers and a off camera stand and softbox.

If you can trigger your speedlight from off camera, that would be good -- especially if it is very overcast. Do you have a diffuser of any kind? If so, bring it.You might also want a reflector. Done of this is necessary, but can be useful.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
