Beautiful area, no fee fishing-just need a license and 5 bucks for parking!
How to find us I will PM you where to go!
I may change the date by one week if they do not stock!
This is a fun and beautiful place to fish. I can practically guarantee everyone will catch something when it is stocked. =) Everyone I have taken there has caught fish so far (crosses fingers).
This place is only a couple hours drive from LA, 3/4 up the 38, about 35 miles from Big Bear City. It is just north of Angelus Oaks, nestled up in the mountains among the gorgeous evergreens. There are bbq's, tables with benches, rest rooms, so it is comfortable.
All you need is light tackle 2-4lb test (I also use flourocarbon for leaders), treble hooks (14-20 size) or single hooks (8-10 size), 1/4-1/2oz weight or a filled water bobber and a swivel or carolina keeper. Bait is garlic or salmon peach dough and or night crawlers. I also use a sauce-either garlic, roe, or corn. Flies also work here and so do lures like Panther Martins, Thomas Buoyants, Super Dupers, Rooster Tails and the like for those who like to throw hardware.
Bring a chair to sit on, a cooler, etc. along with tackle. Some of you may have kayaks, canoes, float tubes, and/or inflatable boats. These are all allowed as long as you dont have a motor on them. There is a long set of stairs going down to the lake that you have to negotiate while carrying your equipment.
Carpooling can be arranged too! Its a great way to save gas-especially since the price is nuts!
We could even rent a cabin if people are willing to stay over night-its only about 90/night near the santa ana river, and can sleep like 3-6. They have full kitchens, bathroom, etc. We can cook the fish within hours of catching them.
Now the date may change, it all depends on when the lake opens and when they stock. I will keep you in the loop.
It really is a great place to fish, for beginners, veterans, etc.
Hope to see you there!
