Re: [singles-639] Singles Events this Weekend

With all due respect, it shouldn't be necessary to remove oneself from a
desired group's email list just to prevent unwarranted, off-topic emails.
The organizer of any group has the power to control what does and does not
go out. I don't want to get Paul's emails either, but I do want to hear
what's going on with this group, so taking myself off the list is not a
solution I find workable.

Controlling spam, and cutting it off at the source, is the true solution,
and the mechanism is there to do it, if only it is used. In the three Meetup
groups I run, I have placed an automatic hold on all group emails until I've
had the chance to read them. If they're off-topic, or sent to the entire
group by mistake when they were really only intended for one person, I
re-address them or delete them accordingly, and my members are never
bothered by them. It works very, very well, and takes about five seconds to
set up, in the group settings section.
