Route 66 - a new route!
We will travel along Route 66 from Victorville to Barstow, stopping to see an old steel truss bridge, an ostrick farm, Elmer's Bottle Tree Ranch, ending in Daggett.
This is an all day event – and we will start early to get as much in as possible. This is a "true" road trip, we will stop when ever and where ever ANYONE sees something of interest to photograph. Whether that is one stop for the day or 100 times in the day, everyone has an equal say in the exploration of this fascinating landscape. Be prepared to be patient and see some amazing sights of yesteryear. This will be great fun!
CARPOOLING INFORMATION: We will all be carpooling. Since this is a road trip, the only way to keep us all on track is to carpool and caravan. The first carpool location is at 7:00 (we will LEAVE at 7:00 sharp) at the old Levitz parking lot at the 55/91 exchange. From the 55, go west on the 91 (I know that sounds counter intuitive, but bear with me). Exit the 91 at Tustin, head north. Turn right into first parking lot (there is a light). Turn right again and go to the far end of the parking lot, to the abandoned Levitz showroom. Look for my red mini cooper.
The second carpool location is near the 91 and 15 at the North Main Corona Park N Ride. We will leave the parking lot at 7:30 SHARP. We will meet at the parking lot closest to the 91, located between E. Grand Blvd and the 91.
The third and last carpool location is near the 15 and 10 interchange. At 8:00 sharp at Ontario Mills. From the 15, exit 4th Street, which is the first exit after the 10. Turn right on 4th Street (west), turn left on Franklin Avenue into Ontario Mills. We will meet at the Edwards Theater parking lot, near Mills Circle. At each carpool location we will collect up as many people as are waiting. We will be leaving on time from each location. We may need to rearrange cars and people as necessary to take the fewest number of cars. I would appreciate it if people with cars that hold the largest number of folks would offer to drive, you will be compensated for gas/wear & tear. The drive with new people can be some of the best experiences you will have on the day!
Whether you are new to the group or a regular, I’ll guarantee that you will make friends on an event like this. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at this event. We will stop at a diner for lunch along the way. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen and a jacket. Please update your RVSP the Friday before so that I have a good sense on our numbers to assist with the carpooling organization.
