The wildflowers are not so showy this year, but Torrey Pines is always spectacular. Let’s support a local State Natural Reserve and shoot the beautiful park at The Art in The Pines Spring Art Festival, which celebrates nature through the artists eye. The day will include music, refreshments, guided nature walks, an art walk and of course, the beautiful park which is easily hike-able and overlooks the beautiful coastline.
The Torrey pine is one of North America's rarest pines. Only two native stands exist; one in coastal San Diego, California, and the other on Santa Rosa Island near Santa Barbara, California. There are over four hundred species of native flora grow within the 2,000-acre Reserve, including California poppies and coast cholla. And lastly, there is a salt marsh worth exploring.
