I am a Ph.D. chemist who specializes in chemical education and instrumentation (expensive toys!) at CSUN. I also am a Specialist Reserve Officer with the LAPD HazMat Unit! Check out my website for all the many things I do!
Knowing how things work- mechanical and biological- fascinates me and provides a greater appreciation for the world around us. The ethical application of science is just as important for the continued survival of humanity.
As the Chair of the Educational Affairs Committee for the Southern California Section of the American Chemical Society (www.SCALACS.org) I wanted to help expand the scope of scientific literacy in the SoCal region by becoming active here.
While web surfing of course! Then the American Chemical Society (ACS) realized this would be a great way to further scientific awareness and literacy.
"If you're interested in the chemical side of life, please check out your Southern California Section of the American Chemical Society @ www.SCALACS.org! We're here to serve you! Science educators please contact us since we can help you in many ways!"
We try to present a wide variety of topics- one that could inspire you to learn more about the world around you! If you don't see one covered, please let me know and I will do what I can to see if I can find someone who can answer your questions via Science Cafe program. Never, ever be afraid to ask a question!
