Subject: [science-32] Santa Ana Winds
Dear SoCal Science Cafe members,
My name is Professor Brian Hart of Lipscomb University, and I am the Director and the Founder of SoCal Science Cafe.
Even though the Santa Ana winds occur regularly about this time of year in the Southern California region, this year's winds have been especially devastating, reaching speeds of 140 mph in the mountains and 80 mph in certain low-lying areas, leaving hundreds of thousands without power and other utilities.
I want to let you know that I hope every one of you is safe and sound and please venture outside only if it's safe to do so. My sympathies to those of you stuck without utilities or power as a result of the winds.
