Next Sigma Xi meeting

Reminder, dear friends ... we do not meet over the summer because we may not have enough dinner attendees to permit us to avoid a facility charge. Aside from that glitch, we meet on the 3rd Tuesdays of the odd-numbered months, 5 times a year, at the Doubletree Club Hotel from 6:30 PM for about 3 hours. Since we've maintained that schedule for over 25 years (but venues change when necessary), you can probably count on its continuation in the foreseeable future.
The subject of the September meeting is nuclear and radioactive-waste disposal. You will also have the opportunity to sign up at that time for a tour of the UCI research reactor. November is history/physics/chemistry/astronomy/mixed-in-a-blender month and January is medicine. Cosmology's in March and who knows what wonders May will bring our way?
You have a wonderful summer. We're going to spend some time this summer at the National Astronomy and Ionosphere Center in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, the world's largest radio telescope. I've been trying to convince my wife that we should take in some spectacular views from the world's highest zip lines in the El Yunque Rain Forest while we're there. She's not convinced. Backup plan: lots of snorkeling and piña coladas.
