Brian here, one of your hosts here at the Science Cafe. I am just dropping a quick note about the "Wine, Dinner, and Science" series.
Some members may be put off by the cost of this event -- but that is only if you want the catered dinner. Otherwise you can feel free to drop in for the lecture only for FREE -- but the request is that you still sign up on our website nonetheless, so chairs can be provided for you and your guests. You are not required to pay if you RSVP and just show up at 8 for the talk. But the dinner is delish, so try it out!
The Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster in Japan has been in the news lately with new toxic radiation being reported at the site of the devestation. Where is it coming from, and why has it gotten to be such a mess?
Join us this coming Tuesday, the 17th as UC Irvine professor, Mikael Nilsson, Ph.D, talks about that and also about nuclear fuel and how it's processed. I am sure it'll be a great opportunity to talk about nuclear power issues and get your questions answered.
