New Event: Visitor Night at the UCI Observatory

From: Dr. Brian H.
Sent on: Saturday, April 21, 2007 10:03 PM

Hello folks,

Announcing a new event for SoCal Science Cafe!

When:
7:00 PM Friday, May 18
Where:
Science Cafe Gathering - Lee's Sandwiches
4127 Campus Drive
Irvine, CA 92612
Cost: UCI Parking Fee of $7/vehicle

We cordially invite the public to attend:

VISITOR NIGHT AT THE UCI OBSERVATORY

NO AGE RESTRICTION. KIDS WILL GET TO STAY UP LATE TOO!

BEFORE-EVENT: Dinner at Lee's Sandwiches! Joining the OC Fun Friends Meetup Group at 7 PM

The Plan to Save on Parking:
Then we pile into the cars at 7:45 PM to go to the UCI Parking Structure and board the Observatory Shuttle Bus. This is so we can get 5-7 people each into as many cars as possible just for up to the parking structure -- this way, parking is as little as $1 per person (split it up amongst the 7 in each car).

If You Want to Come Later, Head on Up to the Observatory:
Date: Friday, May 18, 2007 Time: 8 - 10 pm
Place: The Observatory on the campus of the
University of California, Irvine

Parking Structure/Shuttle Info

Come and see the planets Venus and Saturn, the star-forming Orion nebulae and star clusters with the 24-inch telescope located in the Observatory and other smaller telescopes that we set up around the courtyard. Listen to a lecture entitled "Planets Outside Our Solar System". Night Sky Maps will be given out so you can learn to locate your favorite constellations.
