Hello Science Caf? Members--
My name is Brian Hart, and I am director of SoCal Science Caf?. I want to take a moment out from the usual business of the Caf? program to stop and reflect on the tragedy that has occurred at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, also known as Virginia Tech.
The Science Caf? has 400 members throughout the SoCal region, and I am sure that, among you, there are folks who know either the victims, or friends, family, and faculty of victims, of last week's tragic events in Virgina. Science Caf? is an academic public outreach program run out of UC Irvine by a UC Irvine graduate student, so my heart goes out to the students, faculty, friends, staff, and victims, and I mourn with them their losses.
All of us among the staff of volunteer Assistant Organizers and the members of Science Caf? express our deepest and heartfelt condolences and sympathies to all those affected by the tragic events at Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and I invite you to sign on and post any condolence messages of your own on our online Message Boards.http://science.meetup.com/32/boards/
The Science Caf? continues to be a place of learning, discovery, and wonder, and hopes that all who are saddened by the events at Virginia Tech find healing and renewal in their lives and the best of wishes go out to all those involved.
Sincerely, with condolences,
Director, SoCal Science Caf?
