"A blessing for the writers among us: May all your dead ends be beautiful" - Linford Detweiler
I am very selective about group membership, so please take a moment to read the description and fill out all of the profile questions.
We are a screenwriting critique group that offers peer critique and support for independent screenwriters. However, before joining, note that I only accept submissions for critique that are structured and formatted properly. This is not a class. While we will be happy to offer constructive criticism on treatments and outlines, writers submitting must exhibit a firm grasp of basic screenwriting technique, structure and an understanding of narrative development. I encourage anyone thinking about writing a screenplay for the first time to enroll in an accredited program that requires completion of at least one feature-length script and provides qualified instructor feedback. A legitimate course will typically last no less than one year.
The filmmakers portion of this Meetup is not making short films or formal productions. At this time we are focusing on what we are calling "production exercises" designed to strengthen technical skills and production management techniques. These meetings are by invitation only. Should you wish to join, please email me directly and include your name, any filmmaking equipment you may want to use with the group and your experience/skill level with that equipment. As with screenwriting, I encourage anyone interested in learning filmmaking to take a formal, hands-on class with an experienced instructor. A legitimate course will typically last no less than one year.
Note that inactive members are automatically removed after 6 months.
I do not pass along solicitations for private classes, workshops, consultant services, film festivals, screenings or other events to my members, nor do I endorse any of the above. I do not support or endorse any pitch festivals.
