Conquering Cowles

This hike is challenging but short, so it's generally considered to be great for beginners. It could take[masked] hours, depending on the group. I generally do it in about 1:45 because I totally drag ass as I get near the top.  We'll adjust our pace for the group and take a few breaks as needed. The view from the top is pretty awesome, so bring your camera! There's a Mexican joint across the street where we can celebrate afterward.

We'll meet near the drinking fountain at the trail head. Bring water and wear sturdy shoes (preferably with ankle support, it's very rocky). There are restrooms at the trail head, please use them - this is a popular hike and finding a secluded spot may prove difficult. Give yourself time to find parking, you may have to walk several blocks.

Thanks for organizing the event. BTW, I tried to e-mail you info about Joshua Tree through the meetup website, but it won't let me - so I don't have any way of doing that.

Tons of fun. As always, it's great getting out and active with a bunch of like-minded nerds.

More ideas: beef jerky, yogurt, pudding. Trash bags for the cleanup. Spoons and plastic knives.

Holy cow, what a list! I don't recommend alcohol, especially since it usually comes in glass containers. We'll bring hummus and pita.

I really like Pat's suggestion, so please bring a light lunch/snack to enjoy at the top. Mexican food is still an option if we must. :p See you there!
