Polar Bear Swim with Christmas Tree Bonfire

One New Year's Tradition that I've never done before is the polar bear swim! It's winter time and we should get cold, right? But, wait, there's more! No chilly dip would be complete without a toasty bonfire to make it all better. Plus, You needed to do something with that dry Christmas Tree, right?

Here are the logistics:

Where: 300 Ocean Blvd, Coronado, CA
When: January 1 at 3pm (You weren't working anyway, right?)

What to bring:
-Swimsuit
-Towel
-Jacket
-Snowpants (optional)
-Sunblock (ok, I am a vampire, but we're nerds, so...)
-Your dry "real" Christmas Tree (no plastic allowed)
- .... or some firewood ....
-Any food you want to roast on said bonfire which may include but is not limited to: S'mores, Weenies
-Sticks to roast said food
-Water

Beach Rules:
No glass
No dogs
No alcohol

Another great party by the Wonderful and Talented Kirstin. You always know how to make a rockin party. Great idea about the Christmas trees. Maybe next time we will have an actual Polar Bear Swim instead of a Polar Bear Dip. :)P

Bill and I are here early. We have snagged a fire pit on the far right back. It's not too bad yet. If you like, you can show up early. Bring a Frisbee or two. We have Nada.

Are the fire pits on the opposite side of the beach from the Hotel Del? Haven't really noticed fire pits at that beach before. Will be fun!

Hey All, I don't hear a lot of trees being offered up, so here is a quick guide to moving your tree to coronado if you have a small car like mine. You will need a moving blanket and a bungee cord or rope. Step 1, lower the rear seats from inside the trunk. There should be some kind of latch to actuate (unless you have an older Benz. I am not sure why they don't let you lower the seats).
Step 2, wrap Xmas tree in blanket. Yes, twigs will break off. Yes, it will make a little bit of a mess, but that's the price of fun!
Step 3, put the wrapped tree into the car by sliding the fatter side in from the trunk. Push the tree as far forward as it will go.

Should we bring some ALN Shirts to help people find us easier?? I will bring mine just in case. Also I will help people who have things to carry from their car. Find a spot, come find us, and we can help you get your stuff to the spot. (That's my contribution.)

Is it really a polar bear plunge if the water is 60°? I'm so used to lakes being....well frozen. ☺
