Well, the last one DEFINITELY did not go as planned. I'm making another just to see if it can go as planned. Get there early just to avoid that dreaded traffic jam park near the base of the mountain or at Vermont/Sunset Station and take the shuttle up.
Bring some food, money, blankets, and towels.
If you'd like to buy food (I'd recommend you didn't), here is a pdf of the prices of the cafe.
For trinkets and such, here is a link to the prices.
A map of the location here.
Shuttle stops and times here.
We'll be meeting up at the Sundial (or by the tower) in front of the observatory.
Here's copypasta of the first one:
Apparently, the Griffith Observatory hosts monthly star parties where you can gaze at the evening sky. Maybe we'll spot Luna up there.
Information can be found here: http://www.griffithobservatory.org/pstarparties.html
FIGHTING TRAFFIC, this is some advice for those who do NOT want to fight that traffic mess:
TAKE THE DASH BUS UP TO THE OBSERVATORY.
Park your cars at FREE PARKING locations at the Metro Red Line, ride the Red Line down to SUNSET/VERMONT station and wait for the Dash to take you up there.
This is good to save on parking for other venues as well like Little Tokyo, UNIVERSAL, etc.
Free Parking locations are:
NORTH HOLLYWOOD STATION
UNIVERSAL CITY STATION
Also plan around your schedules for the Dash: http://www.ladottransit.com/oth...
LAST BUS LEAVES AT 9:56pm at the Observatory!
