Casual meetup to burn things
Bring your papers and other assorting non-toxic items to burn as well, additionally if everyone brings one bundle of fire wood we can have an enjoyable bonfire together.

There are pits in the area called Vacation Isle East, Southeast of the Model Yacht Pond

As the organizer, first let me provide my appology to everyone for this event not occuring as invisioned. As one can see from the comments below, even though there was advanced scouting, many hours prior to the scheduled start time, no bonfire pits anywhere in Mission Bay were found to be available. After this, the map which was on the website, did not coincide with the map as I had entered it, or the actual location of Vacation Isle East. Instead the map pointed towards the north end of Crown Point. This lead to people not being able to find each other.

All that being said. Once a sizeable number of us (9) were able to find one another, we did out best to communicate with everyone what the meetup ended up evolving to, which was a diner dinner. At Rudfords, on El Cajon Blvd., the food was good, but the service left much to be desired. Regardless, the company of fellow entertaining bronies provided everyone in attendence with a pleasent and enjoyable evening. Hope to see everyone soon.

We are in the north parking lot of crown point. Near where the map says the meet up is, but wasn't suppore to be.

running late but on my way if we decide to go someplace else please update this so I can find out where.

I'm at vacation isle near the model yacht pond. Where are the rest of you?

    June 14, 2014

    • Alex L.

I'm now at ski beach on the eastern end of vacation isle

      June 14, 2014

  • RightCowLeftCoast

On my way there. Had to go back to Chula Vista to change & pick someone up.

    June 14, 2014

  • RightCowLeftCoast

    OK so, plan.
Since we can't do a bonfire, and people are already travelling. We will meet up there, and decide where to go after we all arrive.

    June 14, 2014

    • Alex L.

No good. Area around Belmont park's swamped. Will head longway around the north and circle back to vacation isle.

I may not be able to make it since I don't have a ride. Car broke down

      June 14, 2014

  • RightCowLeftCoast

    Problem!
Sangria has scouted Vacation Island and Dana point, and there are no empty fire pits. A legal and fire safe bonfire in the Mission Bay area is not possible. Does anyone have suggestions on what we want to do?

    June 14, 2014

    • Alex L.

I can hop on the #8 and check the area around mariners point park. That's the third fallback position

      June 14, 2014

      So is this happening?

      June 14, 2014

  • Nolan C. A.

Hmmmmmm what's a good place we can go to close to public transportation

I'm heading down there right now though it'll take a couple of hours. I'll try and reserve an empty firepit. Unless I can get a ride back home, my time will be limited.

    June 14, 2014

    • RightCowLeftCoast

If no one is able to give you a ride home, for gas funds, like last time I can take you home. I am just concerned about finding someone with a truck so I can bring the pallets

      June 14, 2014

  • CloserToTheSun

Gonna have to back down from this. Not feeling good at all, so I'm gonna pass. Hope I can make next time. Have fun all.

    June 14, 2014

  • RightCowLeftCoast

Does anyone have a truck to pick up pallets? I might gain access to some (3-4) tomorrow.

    June 14, 2014

    • RightCowLeftCoast

Everyone, I have been authorized to take 1-5 pallets where I work in Sorrento Mesa, but don't have a truck. Can someone provide a truck?

So the date is now fast approaching. We need to start declaring what we shall be bringing. I pledge to bring a fire start log, two Lowe's size bundles of firewood, marshmallows, and roasting sticks. We might bring hershey's bars and graham crackers, but that is up in the air at the moment.

    1 · June 3, 2014

    • Alex L.

I'll try and bring kindling to start the fire with plus a newer lighter. The old one's about had it.

      1 · June 10, 2014

    • RightCowLeftCoast

Again, I will purchase a fire log, and some fire wood from Lowes, and I will bring smore supplies, but I have not heard from anyone else on commitments on what ya'll will be bringing.
Also if no firepits are available, we can transition this to a non-fire meetup. But we wont know until our advance party arrives around 1600.

I may show if my prior engagement gets done early enough; no guarantees, unfortunately. If I do come, you can count on cigars.

Anypony in North County wanna give me a ride down and back up? I can drive, but rather save some gasoline and junk.

    May 26, 2014

    • RightCowLeftCoast

I know a military brony why lives in Fallbrook, and put an invite to the group to the meeting, but we shall see who comes.

      May 26, 2014

    • CloserToTheSun

Well if I have to drive, no worries. I'll just need to double check my whole day, but thanks for letting me know Brown, Nicholas and RightCow (btw, your name is so awesome).

I've done more scouting. Vacation Isle is almost a no-swim zone as the eastern edge of the beach is for skiing/watercraft only.

Crown point park to the north seems to be the only area that would allow swimming and also has firepits for the bonfire.

    May 18, 2014

    • RightCowLeftCoast

This is true, the water front is all anti-erosion rocks, but at that time, how many people actually go swimming in the near dark?

No one went swimming at Sketchy's bonfire.

      May 18, 2014

  • Alex L.

Nearby Ski Beach Park may be a better alternative as there are more pits and for those willing, there's beach area for those who want to swim. The area at Vacation Island East is rocky shoreline.

    March 7, 2014

  • Alex L.

Trying to revive the SD Brony Bonfire hmm? Actually Vacation Island East is right across the channel from the original spot of Dana Point Landing and it wouldn't really be a problem for me to go since there's a bus stop right along the same route.

Though at last talk, Sketchy (The one who usually hosts the bonfires) and I agreed to move the spot to Mariner's Point Park which is near Belmont Park.

Fair amount of warning. At times we had trouble securing a firepit until I decided to hold it for a few hours ahead of time, even then some people take the pits for the entire day and night.
