Meeting for Orangewood Children's Home Volunteer Program (Santa Ana)

During this meeting, attendees will hear & learn about:

Orangewood Children's Home
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates)
CAST (Child Abuse Services Team)

This meeting is open to everyone. There is no obligation/pressure to volunteer or commit to anything.

A meeting occurs on the last Tuesday of every month (except December) from 6:00 - 7:30pm or so.

If anything (e.g. traffic, work, etc...) prevents you from reaching Santa Ana by 6:00pm, that should be okay. They are understanding if people arrive a little late. It's a casual meeting so feel free to arrive when you can. Water and snacks are usually provided.

Questions about the Orangewood Children's Home volunteer program can be answered by Rick via [masked] or[masked]

Mona usually coordinates this meeting.  To confirm a meeting will occur this month or for any other questions, contact her via [masked]

(From Main St., turn on Civic Center Drive (heading west), then turn right on Sycamore St. You'll pass the UCI Family Health Center on the corner. Next to it is the Social Services Agency building. Parking should be available in that adjacent lot. Room B-174 is in the smaller edifice, on the ground floor, next to the main building. Look for a tinted-glass door kept open by a small trash can–that should be Room B-174).

One aspect about the volunteer program for Orangewood Children's Home is its flexibility.  Volunteers set their own schedule and can participate as much (or as little) as they want.  This can be advantageous for those with really busy schedules.

However, if anyone is interested in making more of a commitment in helping a child and having more of an impact & influence, in addition to CASA and CAST, mentoring programs also want volunteers to be a positive role model and good example:

Orangewood Children's Foundation

At the meeting, if anyone is interested in becoming a volunteer for Orangewood Children's Home, they will supply an application form along with some paperwork.

I have been to this meeting before, but didn't follow through on the registration process. You need a TB shot and 2 letters of recommendation to work with the kids in Foster Care. I'll just bring those items this time so I don't have to rely on my very bad memory to get it done!

I could be wrong, so please feel free to check with Rick...but if you already attended a meeting, and if you have the volunteer application form, maybe you could just submit your application directly to Rick at Orangewood with the accompanying paperwork. But if you don't have the application form, then yeah, going to the meeting again may be worthwhile. Either way, this is a great program, so they will appreciate you helping with the kids. Cheers!

yes, the recommendation forms are specific forms so I'm going to get them again, since I lost the last ones!
