Good on multiple levels - hands-on for beginners in the morning, relevant issues in the afternoon. Practical & big picture at the same time.

Belsien was able to touch on a variety of topics and managed to fit in just the right amount of individual exercises. He's well-informed and took time to answer our questions. The group was attentive and friendly as well.

Excellent! 5-star performance for sure! Belsian Thomas was clear, methodical, prepared, and knowledgeable. He obviously is expert in WordPress and coding, conscientiously prepared the visuals and his presentation, and is a natural presenter and instructor. He listened carefully answering questions concisely and completely; he generously shared a multitude of insightful tips and recommendations; and he kept the presentation on track to meet all the advertised goals of the workshop. His genuine enthusiasm for WordPress and website design is infectious. I highly recommend attending any program he presents, and feel confident that he would also be a superb dependable consultant and website developer.

I started with almost no knowledge of WordPress and came away understanding the way it works. I feel equipped with the information to secure certain key elements of my future site and aware of what to look out for. They covered SEO, security, Ecommerce as well as design and front end stuff. Belsien was a very knowledgeable leader with important back-up support provided by Noel and Natalie. I'd recommend this to anyone with a basic understanding of how computers work. If you're a computer newbie, take care of that. On the flip side, if you're already a programmer, this may be too basic for you.

Hi Stephanie, at this point we researched it and there isn't an official WordPress certification system in place. But you can probably put on your resume: "completed the SoCal WordPress WordPress intensive workshop." Perhaps we can give you guys an offline / after class quiz that will give you a "grade." We'll think about it.

What school are you going to? Email me [masked] to get a student discount.

    June 13, 2012

  • Stephanie H.

Does one receive a WP Certification from this course? Also, do you have any graphic and web design student discounts? I so would like to add this app dev. environment to my graphic and web design resume.

Also, the Yahoo community center does not have WiFi, so it can be a real challenge to distribute files or get information from the web during a workshop.

Hi Charles, thanks for the note. The only thing is that it's a paid event, so I think we cannot do it there. We might hold this near La Brea and Wilshire so it's closer to the west side.

  • Charles

A location Westside of LA where free or meter parking is more friendly than downtown is a plus. The Yahoo community center is free with room for 65-67 people. They also have tables so people can write or do notes on computer & other device. To help find must post location is across from Helen's Cycles since some have trouble locating 2500 Broadway, Santa Monica. HBO sign is right in front of meeting room. Location is roughly 1/3 mile from 10 Freeway 26th street offramp/onramp.

This would cover basic and some intermediate topics. Some of the intermediate topics would include social media. At this point we're not sure of the venue and may move the date around.
