We are a San Diego collective of friends and adventurers. To be clear, we have a core group that often explores together. This brings with it a lot of trust and comeraderie, which we highly value and is the heart of our group. Please be aware this is NOT for beginners, casual trailwalkers, or tourists. There are plenty of other groups that adventure at that speed.
In SoCalX, you need to have outdoors experience and be able to handle yourself in whatever situation you RSVP to. Rappelling and rope experience is strongly encouraged as some trips will not be available to you without vertical training and equipment. If you want to learn, we do hold practices regularly, but you will be responsible for bringing your own gear, minus a rope. Likewise, mine exploration and caving trips require specific gear and also may require rappelling and being able to keep your calm and composure in confined spaces.

SoCalX adventures include:
Hiking, backpacking, rappelling, camping, mountaineering, Spartan races, urban exploration, caving, exploring abandoned mines, climbing...
...and when the weather is warm - SCUBA, snorkeling, freediving, wet coastal hikes...

The majority of our events are exploration-type trips. We find an interesting destination or something curious on satellite images and plot a hike to explore it. Details may be minimal but are certainly not secret. I will supply any additional information I can if there are any questions or concerns. Please keep in mind that 75% of the time, we are going somewhere we have never been and exploration is the name of the game. The more technical and complicated trips will have specific details and requirements. Please thoroughly read the events you RSVP to and be sure you meet the requirements.

Rules, Guidelines, & Notes:
1) Your profile name must be your real name and your picture needs to show your face so other members can recognize you.
2) SoCalX is 21+ Adults Only. No kids. No minors. Some events, such as bonfires/cookouts may be family friendly and WILL state as much in the event description. Please keep in mind that first and foremost, we are an adult oriented group.
3) No dogs are permitted on our trips!
4) Drinking is for after the adventure, not during.
5) If you aren't going to show up to something you RSVP'd for or you're unsure if you can make it, please be courteous to the event organizers by updating your RSVP. You get one No Show.
6) The start time listed for an event is when we get in the cars and leave. If you arrive after that start time, don't expect the group to be waiting around. Get to the meeting spot early and be ready to go.
7) Thoroughly read the event description before RSVP'ing to an event so you know what you're getting into. You must have the proper gear and come prepared according to that description. Please speak up in the comments for an event if you have questions or concerns about anything at all.
8) Event details, dates, and times may change! You are responsible for keeping up to date by reading event descriptions, event comments, and group emails!
9) We choose to limit the distribution of the exact locations of mines & caves in order to help minimize foot traffic and would-be vandals, and I prefer members to exercise the same discretion. Keep California beautiful!
10) We do not condone trespassing, vandalism, or the destruction of property or nature! Anyone caught doing this will be banned from the group.
11) We take great pride in the fact that we conduct injury-free events. Event descriptions will list any skill or safety gear required for the event. Don't have it? Don't RSVP.
12) You should have your own Exploring Gear - helmet w/ headlamp, flashlights, dustmask, gloves, knee & elbow pads, first aid kit, gps
