I'm looking for opportunities to meet with other photographers, try new venues for photo ops, and learn new tips and tricks.
That's hard to say. I used to travel extensively and have had the opportunity to shoot in quite a few places and at unique events.
I'm a big auto racing fan and enjoy photographing races. I also enjoy spending the day at the zoo or in a national park (Yellowstone, etc) and photographing wildlife.
I'd probably say advanced intermediate. I've done film and digital. I'm pretty good at Lightroom and Photoshop. I also like to experiment when I can. Having a hightech background, I find it a lit easier to dive into new hardware and software products. I guess I understand the "method of their madness." The biggest challenge I have had was just trying to find the time to keep my skills sharp and experiment with new techniques. I have the time now so I'm taking a deeper dive into things.
I currently have a Canon 5D. It's held up well over the years and has seen a lot of the world. It will most likely get replaced when the newer models come out this summer (so the rumors say). On a recent trip to Monterrey, California, I also used a Nikon D3X for a few days. I don't really have a manufacturer preference. But, sadly, lenses and accessories are manufacturer specific. My lenses span manufacturers. Canon - 17-40mm, 50mm,[masked]mm. Tamron 28-75mm f2.8, and one or two others that aren't coming to mind right now.
Hi all, after spending about 20 years in the high tech field, I've decided to spend a little time embracing my creative and artistic side. Photography has always been part of my life and I want to spend a bit more time with it.
Great as always.
