I am an amateur photographer and take photos to use in composing my amateur paintings. This is just a hobby and anything I learn will be helpful. I would like to learn more about composition, lighting, camera settings, etc. I don't know enough about my own camera to get the best out of it. I would like to know more about night photography and flash photography. The birds in flight meetup is very interesting to me, so I am disappointed that it could accommodate only 9 people and that it is full. Also, that there are not more meetings planned in advance. I'm hoping that future meetups for this group will be announced further in advance and accommodate more members.
Just to let you know how much of an amateur I am, I'm not even sure I know what you mean by a "photo shoot." I like anything that has to do with nature...birds, butterflies, animals, pets, fish, alligators, bugs/insects, and/or beautiful unique scenery in different lighting situations. I like shooting in late afternoon and evening, but would probably enjoy early morning shots, as well. I love strong, long shadows.

Canon PowerShot SD780 IS Digital ELPH with a portable tripod. Also, I have a Nikon Coolpix 8700 which takes excellent photos but now needs repair. I have a heavier tripod to use with it. I have a Konica SLR (non-digital) with great lenses that I don't use anymore, but it takes excellent pictures. Does anyone use non-digital cameras anymore? I don't like bulky equipment. The ELPH gives excellent photos for a tiny camera, but this photographer needs to improve in order to get the best out of it.
Hi. I am a semi-retired human services professional who would like to get out, meet people, and improve my photography skills.
Everyone was kind, friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the group and the venue.
