Ft Lauderdale Critical Mass

Our end of the year holiday spectacular.

It’s really been an amazing ride this year, our ridership numbers are great and what's even more amazing is the vibe we create when we take to the streets. We have fun while we ride AND with positive energy we affirm the rights of all bicyclists and we make the roads safer for everyone.

This year we really have become a 'critical mass' for at least one night a month. With the power of these numbers we can surely keep the movement growing in a positive direction. We affect change 'just' by riding. It's that simple. Share the joy you feel when you ride and encourage others to ride also. Let's respect ourselves, our fellow cyclists and the non-riders we encounter along the way. 99% of our interactions are super positive, but sometimes they're not, when that happens lets take the high road and 'kill 'em with kindness'.

We'll end this months ride with a super party at the Graffitti Wall in FAT Village, hosted by our friends at C&I Studios and Brew Next Door. It's a great space, bikes and peds only, not a car in sight! Let's mark another year of Mass with a super end of year party!

A few pedaling details:
Remember Safety's third while we ride.
So in this size group you should always call out your intended actions BEFORE you do them...e.g. "on your right", "passing on your left", "slowing", "stopping" etc... Call out hazards to your fellow riders. We have a great bunch of very experienced riders who do an amazing job helping keep the ride safe. They are usually the vocal ones in the mass, encouraging smooth riding, and 'minding the gaps'. They 'cork' when we need it, and in general they rock. Please listen to them and to each other to make this group activity safe and fun for everyone.

This was my first ride...I'm still getting back into I did lag a little...and my legs did burn. I'm going to keep on riding & by next month I'm sure I'll be in even better shape...ONE DAY AT A TIME...LOL

It's about 12mph slow, approx. 15 miles, children pedaling with adults

I would like to meet up with SFBC for this. I tried in November, but I've not met any of you before, so I didn't recognize the group. Is there a more specific meeting point by the auditorium, or is there some other way to recognize the group? Thanks!

Kelly the “group” is several hundred people that ride bikes in Fort Lauderdale, and there’s no chance you’ll miss the mass in front of the War Memorial Auditorium.
