Happy Thanksgiving and Turkey "Gay"...

  • Sue's House

Hello Ladies, Our member Sue has been wonderful in offering her home up for Thanksgiving. Here is her invitation:

I am a single woman with no family in the area to spend this special day with. I thought it would be a great idea to have a Turkey "Gay" with other ladies in similar situations. I would love to open my home to friends for this special day. Here are my thoughts, and we can use the comment attached to share ideas and food suggestions.

I have become very good at deep frying a turkey. I will supply the turkey and ask if you are going to attend, please bring something to share, along with a beverage of choice. There are many traditional dishes that usually fulfill this meal, so if we could all coordinate through posting comments, we should be able to easily have all of the usual fixing's and many other special favorites.

We can make this a day-long event for those who may want to stop by before or after other family or friend engagements. And we cannot forget the traditional football games that are great entertainment to watch and build camaraderie.

We can start at noon and plan to have the turkey on the table about 2:00pm for the main meal. However, we can snack on some of the many yummy snack items some may choose to brings throughout the day.

Ponder the idea and let's begin a discussion to see how many may chose to attend and what various food items will be brought.

Additionally, I need to have an idea of how many will be in attendance so I know whether to get one very large bird or two medium birds. Who knows, maybe we can make this the first of many traditions to come.

What do ya say ladies !!!

Sue

(Please be courteous if you RSVP yes and you plan to share the main meal, PLEASE show up because the meal is being coordinated. If you are just dropping by for snacks and fun, it doesn't matter as much. It is really appreciated if you will manage your reservation and stay current. This means if you comment that you are bringing a dish and then you cancel, please note that under the comments section.)

Thanks, Jody

Sorry for the last day RSVP but just didnt know if I was over trying to fight off some bug but feeling a ton better. I was thinking of making some pumpkin pies but not sure if anyone already had that planned, or some cinnamon cookies or ?. Sue let me know please. Don't have a ton of energy just yet but have some and want to contribute and want to thank you so much for opening up your home, it means a lot to me. Going shopping for needed groceries so hopefully I will hear if you need anything different that I haven't planned. What is your favorite wine or drink Sue, maybe I can find it while I am shopping...?

Hello y'all, I will be bringing Goose... Grey Goose that it. That should accommodate both vegetarians and carnivores alike. As to entertainment, I can totally lip sync in the shower. Unfortunately... Or perhaps fortunately, I will be showered before I arrive. :) Is there anything else you need, preferably from Costco? I will try to arrive by 2pm, but I do have a prior engagement.

I would love to come but I have to work at the hospital at 2pm. Sounds yummy and fun. Thank you so much Sue for offering your house and the turkey. And thank you Jody for organizing so many great events for women. I regret I have only been able to go to a few but plan to when I can. My work schedule has been a little crazy but will settle down soon as I get a few more people trained. Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Hi ladies, this is getting very exciting. I am so happy that so many can attend and share in new friendships and this day of giving thanks. I have already purchased the turkeys. However I am a little worried I won't have enough of the primary dish, would someone like to bring a small ham. If not, I know we have some great sides to fill up on. I look forward to this day with all of you. It is all of you that will make this day of giving special.
