Brunch and Board Games at Smokey Row!

Let's meet up for a Sunday brunch at Smokey Row!

This is a great little coffee shop, with a great little menu:

https://smokeyrow.com/menu

Afterwards, we can sit and chat...or maybe play some board games (they have several there on hand, or feel free to bring your own from home!).  Great way to spend a winter afternoon! :)

Hey everyone! I'm going to try to get to Smokey Row around 10:15 and find out where our room is. Just to warn you, our private room only holds 15 people, so the other 15 of us will have to find tables out in the dining area. Feel free to order your drinks and food, find a place to eat, and then you can sit around and talk or play games and you're welcome to leave whenever. I think we have our room reserved until 3 p.m. I'll be wearing jeans and a red shirt - if you get there and aren't sure where our group is, you can call or text me at[masked]

I have to bring Red November to this.

Okay, since I signed up, my mother has been into and out of the hospital. Since I'm currently acting as her legs, I'm going to bow out and wait for the next one.

I have a ten year old daughter and was wondering if I could bring her to this event. Thanks!

Of course! We don't discriminate against any age in this group :) I bet she'd have a great time!

I would have liked to come, but something cane up and I'll be driving to Denver, CO that day.

Thank you, Jamie! Thank goodness I have two enthusiastic organizers who are better at this than I am.

I wish I could go, but it seems I'll be in Denver, CO instead.

I was wanting to come to Hobbit on Saturday but I don't know anyone or where we meet for the group. Can someone direct me who to talk to or where to meet? Is it ok if my friend comes too? :)

    December 12, 2012

    • Michael

Hi Donna. I'm the organizer for the Hobbit meetup. I've actually never been to this theater, but I figured we would meet in the lobby after buying our tickets. I'll update everyone on what I'll be wearing, which may include a hat. I'll make it as easy as I can to spot me. Yes, you can bring a friend. If you RSVP yes, you'll have the option of indicating a number of guests. I hope we'll see you there.

    Hi Jamie (and everyone else)!
This is an awesome idea! I hope I can make it to a meetup soon. I work on the weekends, so I won't be able to make it to Lincoln. I have seen the film and I think you will enjoy it. Daniel Day-Lewis is amazing!

I called Smokey Row and they said that Sunday mornings are their busiest time, and with a group this large coming in all at once that it would take well over an hour before each one of us could probably find a seat, and we would not be able to sit together. So...I am going to push this back to the following Sunday (Dec. 16th) when I have the room there reserved. It seats 15, so at least we'll have 15 available seats all to ourselves. We can spill out into the dining area as well, and should have plenty of space for games. I apologize if this date change makes it difficult for anyone to attend - since this event has been a hit, I'll be sure to schedule more of these in the future so if you miss this one, you can hopefully make it to the next!! :) For those who still want to meet up this coming Sunday, I am going to post a different event so that we can all still get together this weekend...

It sends out lots of email reminders...so hopefully people will take notice. We'll see how many we get on the 16th, if we get a good turnout I'll start making this a regular event :)

I don't know that you could read much into a low turnout. It is getting dangerously close to Christmas, after all. Now a big turnout at Christmas time... yeah, you could read a lot into that. Ho-ho-ho! <= D

Wow, I honestly did not expect to get so many RSVP's for this!! The bad news is, we are not able to reserve the 'party room' at Smokey Row (as it's already taken next Sunday). Therefore, we have two options....we can keep the event scheduled as is, possibly having to wait for tables to come open and splitting up into smaller groups. Or, we can wait and move this event back to a day/time where we can rent the 'party room' so we can all be together in one area. Any thoughts?

I think you should still hold the event, even if you need to limit the number of people who can come. Just let us know and we will adjust accordingly. (I, for one, am willing to bow out so the event can go forward.) This meetup idea is a winner. We may just need a bigger venue next time.
