The Fall skating season for evening adult skating begins here.
This is billed by the arena as Adult Public Skating. The session is overseen by the Gilmour Traditional Skating group and features an organized program which includes music for skating. A great evening to socialize with other skaters, or skate on your own if you wish, and to get some exercise.
The time: Thursdays 8:45pm to 10:00pm. Come around 8:30 so you'll have time to put your skates on.
Cost: $5.00 person. Adults only. North Van Rec passes are valid for admission. Rental skates are available at no extra cost (for this venue only).
This is an easy place to get to even if you don't live on the north shore. Take the Ironworkers (Second Narrows) bridge. Follow the Upper Levels to the top of the cut then exit for Lynn Valley Road. Then right at the first light. Right at the next light (Kirkstone). Then a bit downhill and first left into the rec centre complex. So if you're on the south side of the inlet and you'd like to skate and socialize, don't hesitate to give it a try and come on out. (We get skaters from as far away as New Westminster and yes, even Langley.)
If you're late to RSVP, or if you see no other names on the RSVP list, come anyway. You will be welcomed by friendly people there.
