Social Weekenders (SW) wasfirst formed in September 2008 and joined Meetup on 1st April 2012. Wehave since grown to be a very popular Meetup Group for the 40+ age group. We organise all sorts of social events - lunches, dinners, day trips, places of interest, a Show at QPAC - you name it, we'll do it.
Hosting an Event: We encourage as many people as possible to be an Event Host as that gives us variety and it's very easy to do. You can make a suggestion by clicking on “+ Suggest a new Meetup”. An Organiser will contact you to see if you are interested in becoming a Host, and it will then be announced to the whole group, so make sure you give full details, including location, dates and times.
Contributions: Each person (including guests) will be asked to contribute $2.00 at each function they attend. This is used to cover our Meetup costs. Any excess money will be spent in a way to benefit SW members.
Etiquette: Creating any kind of disturbance or nuisance to other members, such as excessive alcohol consumption, offensive language/behaviour, disharmony, unwanted attention or contacts (ie texting, emailing, phoning), etc will not be tolerated, and could mean immediate and permanent removal from SW.
RSVPs: Everyone must note their attendance for each function they wish to attend. If you find you are unable to attend a function, that you have RSVP’d for, please change your RSVP status as soon as possible before the cut off time.
Non-Attendance at Functions (No-shows): We have a strict policy about no-shows. After a no-show we will send you one email notification, but a second no-show will mean permanent removal from SW. In case of a last minute problem, provided a message is sent to the Event Host, one of the Organisers, or posted on the function's page, within 24 hours of the commencement of the function, the non-attendance will be overlooked.
Guests/Children: Members are welcome to bring guests with them, but please note this when you RSVP. As this is an adult social group, we discourage the attendance of any guests under the age of 16, unless it is a function that is specifically designed for children, or the Event Host feels it is suitable for children.
Liability: By joining Social Weekenders, you agree that the Organisers and Event Hosts of Social Weekenders are absolved from all liability however arising from any injuries, losses or damages however caused, during the Function or during transportation to or from any of our functions.
