1) Please indicate what time your tour leaves in the comments.  (Or if you're not going on the tour.)

2) Don't be late.  I don't know how long we'll be staying.

3) This is not a hipster dive bar.  It's a real dive bar.

4) Cash only.

5)  Do not park east of Los Angeles Street.  Unless you don't mind leaving your car in the heart of Skid Row.  (And walking back to it later.)  Park on Main Street or west of there.

If you're taking the train, take the Red or Purple Line and walk east on 5th Street for four blocks.

6) Look for me.  I'll be wearing a fedora and a leather jacket.

7) If you're not coming, change your RSVP to "No."

UPDATE: The tour is now full, but you can still come down and hang out with us in the last Skid Row bar in L.A. before it closes next week!

"The time has nearly come when we must say goodbye to our dear King Eddy Saloon, the last Skid Row bar. But eight days before last call on December 16th, LAVA (The Los Angeles Visionaries Association) presents a rare opportunity to tour the historic basement speakeasy, where a select group of fortunate explorers can see the remnants of Prohibition-era decor. Join us to soak up the considerable atmosphere of this place that is memorably featured in John Fante’s great downtown novel Ask The Dust."

RSVP Now (or, rather, at 10:00AM today), Ask Questions Later

Free guided tours of the historic basement speakeasy beneath the King Eddy Saloon, the last Skid Row bar in Los Angeles, which is closing on December 16.

The basement has not been open to the public in decades, and will soon be renovated by the bar's new owners, which means this rare opportunity is not to be missed. Reservations for Saturday's tours will be accepted at the URL below beginning at 10am on Thursday, December 6, and we expect them to fill up quickly. Follow the link below for everything you need to know to join us on this very special night.

YOU MUST RSVP AT THE LINK ABOVE TO GO ON THE TOUR!  I am going to try for the 7:00PM slot.  If that slot is filled up, RSVP for whatever slot is available!

More details to come. Don't worry if you get closed out of the RSVPs; we'll be at the bar before, during and after! :-D

I was unable to get into a tour group for tonight, so I'm just planning to be there at 7.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
