FINAL UPDATE: Just found out that Bar 107 is opening at 4:00PM after all.  So our start time is back to 4:00PM.  No word on when they will be serving Chinese food.  (There is even a slight chance that they won't even have any.)  We shall see!  (If this affects your plans and you are no longer coming, please change your RSVP to "No.")

--------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE: Check back Christmas Day for the final update!  (This could include moving the start time back to the afternoon or any number of other changes, so check back around noon.  (If there is nothing that says, "FINAL UPDATE," that means I haven't posted it yet.)

--------------------------------------------------------------

UPDATE: Bar 107 has changed the start time of the event to 9:00PM this year.  This is subject to further change, so stay tuned.  And, just so you know in advance, they will be showing 70s porn on their TVs at 10:00PM.

I'm putting everyone on the waiting list.  If you're still interested in attending (even with the late start time and the porn), change your RSVP to "Yes."

And keep checking back for further changes!

Hi!  Joe P. here.  (Pictured below. Look for me when you get there!)

If you've got nowhere to go for Christmas because your family is too far away,

or if you are going to be with your family and you need to sneak away,

I've got just the thing...

Christmas at Bar 107!

We went to Bar 107 for Christmas last year and it was so good that we're going back this year! Chinese food is on the menu. The food is free; just buy a drink. And I understand there will be a special "holiday screening" there later in the evening.

The drinks are cheap and the food is cheaper (i.e., free). (I believe the well drinks are $5 and the beer starts at $2.) They even have a real Photo Booth in the back for $2!

And it's only 3 blocks from the Red Line's Pershing Square Station!

I'm going to try and go early and grab the big booth on the left (when you walk in the door).

THE FOOD WILL NOT LAST VERY LONG! DO NOT SHOW UP AT 4:30PM AND THEN COMPLAIN THAT THEY WERE OUT OF FOOD. We'll be there later than that, but the food won't.

NOTE: Bar 107 is not a restaurant!  Aside from the free Chinese food at 4:00PM, there will be no other food available.  So if you're planning on being late, make sure you eat something before you get here.  (The 4:00PM start time is subject to change.)

PARKING:

There is plenty of free street parking, especially on 4th Street in front of the bar. I called the Department of Transportation and they said that neither parking meter restrictions nor "No Stopping 4-6" regulations will be enforced on Christmas Day. (For more parking information, read "Enforcement of Parking Regulations on National Holidays."[http://www.ladot.lacity.org/pdf/PDF135.pdf])  Try not to park on the street east of Main Street, though: that's where Skid Row begins! (Hey, this really is a Dive Bar!) But don't worry, we're not taking food away from homeless people; it's not that kind of free Christmas dinner! This is for customers only, so buy a drink!

To summarize:

Cover Charge: NONE

Drink Minimum: NONE

Price of Food: FREE

Price of Drinks: Beer starts at $2. Soda is even less.

See you there!

Notes:

1) Don't worry: the bar is not actually in Skid Row!

2) There is no sign outside Bar 107 that says "Bar 107." It says "Heileman's Old Style" and "Ollie's Sport Shop - Live Bait and Tackle."

3) I don't know how long the food will last.
