    Hi everyone

I just spoke to the Salem Police Deptment and they said there is room in both of the garages and to park there. One garage is located on Derby Street, across the street from Pickering Wharf and the second garage is located next to the Peabody Essex Museum

    February 17, 2013

  • Joan S.

    Hi everyone
It seems like we are not having any luck with the weather. The snow should stop around noon time and the ice sculptures are out. I'm planning on parking at the Salem train stop which is a short walk to the tavern. I would like to see everyone , and I hoping most will make the effort. Please update your RSVP.

Hi there - Upon reading Gale's message, I just spoke with the Salem Police Dept (non-emergency number) and the officer confirmed the parking ban, as of right now. He said that during a ban all cars parked on the street, including meters, will be subject to ticketing and towing. He suggested checking the website in the morning to see if the ban is still in effect. I certainly hope the ban is lifted because this sounds like such a great event.....I even printed off a map of the locations of the ice scupltures....please advise if this event gets cancelled. Thanks!

    1 · February 17, 2013

  • Gale_2

NO PARKING in Salem. I just copied this info from the Salem Patch:
A snow emergency will go into effect Saturday, Feb. 16, at 8 p.m.
Please remember, during the Snow Emergency a parking ban is in effect, and vehicles must be totally removed from city streets and sidewalks or your vehicle will be ticketed and towed.
Also, please note that vehicles must be removed from public and private parking lots, particularly at schools, immediately following the cancellation of the snow emergency.

    February 16, 2013

  • Stefanie F.

I'm hoping to still make it. I read on Salem patch that the parking ban will be on starting tonight. Do you think that might affect parking for tomorrow ?

    February 16, 2013

  • Liam

I'll can't guarantee ill be there if it snows.

Great! now I can go! Can't wait to meet everyone.

    February 11, 2013

  • Joan S.

Hi Everyone Sad news the event has been postponed until next weekend because there isnt power to carve the ice scupltures. The parking ban is still in effect and as Beth has stated there is no spots left in the garage. Therefore I'm going to postpone the brunch until next weekend

We still have tons of fun! Thanks

Thanks Joan. I was looking forward to going but this storm has really put a damper on plans for the weekend.

Glad you rescheduled. We'll have lots of fun, just a week later.

so sorry... due to the storm I have had to work over 14 hours today.... I really need my sleep tomorrow. So sorry!

    February 9, 2013

  • Gale_2

RESCHEDULE? Joan, have you thought of rescheduling this event? Where the garages are full because people can't park on the steet, it seems like parking is going to be impossible. Also, I think the ice sculptures will be there for a week. Seems like it would be more interesting to see the completed sculptures instead of the beginning carvings. ???

Last minute schedule change - Sorry!!

    February 9, 2013

  • Kim

I don't want to take the chance of driving all the way there and finding no parking. It takes about 45 mins for me to get there.....sorry for the late change.

    1 · February 9, 2013

  • Beth

The parking ban is still ON in Salem...no street parking and the garages are full

    2 · February 9, 2013

  • Joan S.

    Hi Everyone

I spoke to the Chamber of Commerce in Salem and they told me the event would start at 10AM on Sunday. They are going to clear the snow this afternoon and start building the sculptures! Again please update your RSVP and bring a camera, the photos should be great with all the snow. Warm snow boots and warm clothes are recommended so we may enjoy the beautiful day

We meeting at tavern for 12

      February 9, 2013

Have we checked to see if there is still a parking ban? I heard the garages are full because of the ban for on street parking.

I live in Beverly. Does anyone have any idea whether I'll be able to find parking? I am guessing probably not...

    February 9, 2013

    • Joan S.

There is a garage next to the Peabody Essex Museum or there is parking next to Tavern on Derby street

      1 · February 9, 2013

    • Heather

Yes, that is where I usually would park, but I imagine it is full because of the snow ban.

Sorry about the last minute cancellation. I'll be shoveling a roof.

    February 9, 2013

    • Joan S.

Hopefully we will see you next time thanks for the update

      February 9, 2013

  • Trish

Are you eating first and then viewing the sculptures?

    February 9, 2013

    • Joan S.

Yes we are eating first. I think we will be finished around 1:30 then we can form two groups one for the trolley which cost $1 or walking the route

      February 9, 2013

  • Gale_2

There are PARKING LOTS AND GARAGES in Salem, so we don't have to worry about on-the-street parking. There's an ENCLOSED garage across from the Peabod Essex Museum, so snow wouldn't be an issue. Does anyone know how close that is to the restaurant or if there's a closer parking lot?

    February 9, 2013

  • Joan S.

Hi Everyone Looking forward to the brunch and it seems like Sunday is the ideal day for event. Please wear warm boots hats coats etc because we will be walking off the delicious brunch. If your plans have changed please update your RSVPS thanks
