NEC Spring Concert Series: Biss + Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, & Rouse

To all you Social Fun classical music lovers who aren't also in Nerd Fun:

I run a series of FREE events at the New England Conservatory for Nerd Fun, and want my Social Fun friends to come too! (But please don't double RSVP.)

Tonight, professor Paul Biss conducts the NEC Philharmonia in a program featuring Mendelssohn's violin concerto, Tchaikovsky's 6th symphony, & a work by Christopher Rouse. (Listen to excerpts below; the names in the list link to youtube performances of the works.)

For more information about this concert, visit

Let's meet up at no later than 7:30pm, so the group can grab a bunch of seats together when the doors open, and then socialize before the concert.  We will probably end up sitting in the back of the center section in the main hall, as they usually don't open the balcony for these concerts.

Directions to Jordan Hall:
The hall is located at the corner of Huntington and Gainsborough streets, about a block south of the Symphony T stop on the Green Line. It's also close to the Mass Ave station on the Orange line.  Look for the building with the YMCA sign on top of it as you walk down Huntington Ave--it's near that building. The main entrance is reached from Gainsborough Street.

This evening's program will include:

Each piece was outstanding but the combination was exhilarating! It was clear Paul Biss thoroughly enjoyed conducting the Infernal Machine, how much fun was that? Robyn Bollinger is a super star and you could feel all her joy, passion and commitment.

All 4 movements in Tchaikovsky piece had it's own emotion and each one came alive. Both 1 & 4 and 2 &3 spoke for themselves. Thank you for such an invitation. Michele

No, no tickets are necessary-- it's open seating, first come, first served, and we usually sit together in the left balcony (left as you face the stage.) Doors open at 7:30.
