Let's End the Month w/ a Pond Meadow Park Walk!

Let's end the month with a Walk @ Pond Meadow Park (PMP)! This is one of our favorite walking locations. We will be meeting and walking from the Braintree side of PMP.  One of the great things about walking at PMP is there are some shady areas along with some nice breezes once in awhile.  Let's meetup and get to know each other while walking around the pond!  The sunsets just after 7:30pm tonight so we will be able to walk 2 loops without worrying about walking in the dark.

Pond Meadow Park consists of a paved loop as well as paved walkways to and from both sets of parking lots.  This path is hilly with some flat terrain.  If you choose to head out into the woods the trails are marked but not paved.  The loop is 1.6 miles, with the walk to and from the parking lot it is 1.9 miles. It takes about 35-40 minutes to walk the loop. If we walk the loop twice it's a total of 3.5 miles and takes between 1 hr and 1 hr and 15 minutes, depending on pace. If we walk to the street of the Weymouth entrance it adds .4 miles and takes about 5-10 minutes.

[Please Note: There are only two entrances to PMP - in Braintree and Weymouth. There is only one place to meet on the path and that's where the Braintree and Weymouth paths converge. If we walk against the flow of traffic and you will be more than 10 minutes late you could potentially meet us at the merge as we will wait 5-10 minutes for late (Yes RSVP) arrivals, and within 5-10 minutes of our departure we will pass the convergence of the paths. However, if we walk the right away we won't pass that point until almost 1/2 hour into our walk.]

If this time is too early/late for you and you would like to walk PMP please note it in your RSVP so we may note your feedback for scheduling future walks and events.

Please do not double or triple RSVP as the South Shore Walkabouts are inviting a limited number of members of Social Fun and South Shore Ladies to join us.  While attendance is currently unlimited for the Walkabouts (SSW) and 1 guest will be welcome per member, it is quite limited for SF and SSL members and there are no guest options for them.

Pond Meadow Park

470 Liberty Street, Braintree

[masked]

Min/Max: At least 3 Yes RSVPs 48 hours in advance. Attendance is limited to 8 total for this group, including orgs/hosts, which can increase to 12 w/ a co-host.  We are using an automatic Wait List (WL) for this event.  This means that once the event is full when openings arise members on the WL will be moved to the Yes list in the order in which they were added to the Yes list.  (Please be sure to change your RSVP from WL to No once you are no longer able to attend.  RSVPs are being shutoff as of 4pm on the day of the event.)

Guests: None for this event.

Late Arrivals: We will wait our traditional 5-10 minutes for late arrivals.

Directions: Best directions should be taken from mapquest.com or maps.google.com. Located on Liberty Street, 500 feet from the intersection of Liberty and Middle Street near the Route 3 overpass directly across from Zana Park Drive.

Please note there is a rotary now instead of a regular intersection just before PMP.

From Route 3: Take Exit 17/Union St., Braintree. Exit on the side of the (Sunoco) Gas Station and Police Station. Follow Union Street to the first set of lights. Take a Right at the lights onto Middle Street. Follow about 1 mile to a Rotary. Go 3/4 of the way around the Rotary and exit onto Liberty Street. (This used to be a regular intersection where you took a left.) PMP is 500 feet up on the Right.

We had 13 total attendees between Social Fun and the South Shore Walkabouts. Had a great time walking and talking w/ everyone. Good mix of people from 1st and 2nd time attendees to regulars to members we haven't seen in awhile. Really needed a group walk tonight and am glad I was able to host a great event at a great park.

The RSVP list has been printed. Looking forward to tonight's walk. Some of you will beat me there as I'm coming from work and I will be getting there only about 5 minutes early. See you at the flagpole.

I could get you but I'm already cutting it very close as I need to arrive early as the only host. I can drop you off after the event. You may want to take a cab. It's only about 2-3 miles from the T.

We currently have 10 Yes RSVPs between the 3 groups. We are good to go but could use a Co-Host, especially if you can get there early to help check people in.
